Easy Slow Cooker Taco Meat

  • Place the ground beef in the crock pot, and use a wooden spoon or spatula to break it up into small chunks.
  • Sprinkle with taco seasoning (1 ½ Tablespoons PER POUND) and stir well. Cover with salsa.
  • Cook on high 1.5-2 hours or on low 3-4 hours. It can be helpful to stir once, breaking up any big pieces that might’ve formed together, but this isn’t 100% necessary.
  • Break up the beef, if needed, stir well, then spoon the beef out of the crock pot using a slotted spoon before serving. Use for tacos, burritos, salads, nachos, and more!

Notes

Variations:
  • Add a chopped yellow or red onion to the crock pot.
  • Red salsa or salsa verde both work very well in this recipe, but our favorite is the green (verde) salsa.
  • Add a can of black beans or kidney beans to the crock pot.
Freezing:
Cook the meat then cool completely. Place it in a freezer ziplock bag or air tight container and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to use, thaw overnight in the fridge, then reheat in the microwave or on the stove top.
